The client’s brief was for an interior makeover of a structure being renovated at the time. The feel had to move from a dramatically dark interior, to open, light spaces with an industrial, local feel.
Spaces were generous and open plan which allowed for comfortable furniture pieces, centrally placed.
The project consisted of a large entertainment space, leading into a larger area with four different reception areas , foyer ,a cinema room, all the bedrooms in the house , kitchen and pyjama lounge attached, as well as an art studio.
The entertainment area consists of a bar -, indoor braai-, and tv lounge area combined. We wanted the area to be relaxed enough host a braai in but at the same time function as a bar lunch area or media room.
Numerous seating areas were created to capture the atmosphere of various times of day and night.
The house does not have a patio but the braai room, bar and lounge can be opened onto aspects of the garden such as the pool or fire pit , and in doing so, take on the function of a patio.
